Official expression (EBA, verbatim)

with {tB_01.02, default: null, interval: false}: if ( not ( isnull ({c0030}) ) ) or not (( isnull ({c0020}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0050}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0060}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0070}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0080}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0090}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0100}) )) or not (( isnull ({c0110}) )) then ( ( not ( isnull ({c0040}) ) )) endif

Precondition (verbatim): {v_B_01.02} - the rule is evaluated only when template B_01.02 is part of the filing (its filing indicator is true).

Description in the EBA artifact: empty (NULL).

What this rule checks

Template B_01.02 (List of entities within the scope of the register of information) has one row per entity within the scope of the Register of Information (RoI). The row key is c0010 (LEI of the entity).

The rule looks at each row: if at least one of the data columns c0020, c0030 and c0050-c0110 is filled - Name of the entity (c0020), Country (c0030), Hierarchy of the entity within the group (c0050), LEI of the direct parent undertaking (c0060), Date of last update (c0070), Date of integration (c0080), Date of deletion (c0090), Currency (c0100), Value of total assets (c0110) - then c0040 (Type of entity) must be filled as well. A row that contains only the key c0010 does not trigger the rule.

This rule checks only that the cell is filled; whether the value is a valid code from the list is a separate check. c0040 takes a code from the value list of B_01.02 (24 codes, e.g. eba_CT:x12 = Credit institutions). Template B_01.01 has its own, shorter list for the same column label (22 codes) - do not copy codes between the two templates.

This is a warning-level check (layer W2, severity: warning). It does not technically block or reject a filing at the ESAs - a technical rejection can only be caused by the structural file checks (STRUCT layer). A violation shows up as a warning in the validation feedback. The rule is active on the current EBA validation rules list (status as of 2026-06-23).

Most common causes

  • The row was filled in starting from the name or the country and the entity type cell was left empty.
  • A column shift in a CSV or Excel export left c0040 empty and moved values into neighbouring columns.
  • The row was created with the LEI key only, other columns were filled in later and the type code was never picked.

How to fix it, step by step

  1. Open template B_01.02 and find the flagged row. The finding gives the row number and the key value: c0010 (LEI of the entity).
  2. Pick the entity type code from the B_01.02 value list in column c0040 (Type of entity) - for example eba_CT:x12 (Credit institutions). Use the B_01.02 list, not the B_01.01 one.
  3. If the whole row is there by mistake, delete the entire row instead. A row with only the key (c0010) does not trigger this rule.
  4. Run the validation again and confirm the v8860_m warning for that row is gone.

Example: fails vs passes

Fails - the country is filled, the entity type is empty; the finding points at column c0040 of this row:

c0010 (LEI of the entity) c0030 (Country of the entity) c0040 (Type of entity)
549300Q5EH2NP82EPE32 eba_GA:AL (empty)

Passes - the entity type is filled:

c0010 (LEI of the entity) c0030 (Country of the entity) c0040 (Type of entity)
549300Q5EH2NP82EPE32 eba_GA:AL eba_CT:x12

Also passes (edge case) - a key-only row: only c0010 is filled, none of c0020, c0030 and c0050-c0110 has a value, so the condition never activates. With several rows, only the incomplete row is flagged - the finding carries its row number and key value.

  • v8858_m, v8859_m, v8861_m, v8862_m, v8863_m, v8864_m, v8865_m - the same row-completeness family on B_01.02: each rule requires a different column of the same row (c0020 Name of the entity, c0030 Country of the entity, c0050 Hierarchy of the entity within the group, c0060 LEI of the direct parent undertaking, c0070 Date of last update, c0080 Date of integration, c0090 Date of deletion).
  • v8804_m - a conditional rule whose condition uses c0040: when c0040 is missing, v8804_m never activates, so the presence of c0040 itself is guarded only by v8860_m.
  • v8874_m - the same check for the entity type column (c0040) on template B_01.01 (a different value list: 22 codes there vs 24 here).

Fix it in the RoI Builder - it points at the exact row and cell and re-checks as you type.
